Elderberry Natural Immune Boosters Help For H1N1

H1N1 Swine Flu talk is everywhere. Certain individuals push for us to get the flu shot, it is a personal decision we all have to make. Whatever your decision is, you should seriously consider Immune System Boosters.

For decades herbalists have been scoffed at for recommending elderberry for flu, but now popular doctors are recommending it. People are now paying attention to the advice of doctor’s such as Dr. Oz and the use of natural immune system boosters, they get the credit for sharing it with all of us, when this information has been around for centuries.

Rick Sponaugle, MD, Medical Director of Florida Detox and Wellness Institute says; ” Increasing levels of natural killer cells (white blood cells), prevents infection with swine flu and other viruses. Natural Killer Cells protect us from viruses, during new infections, while other white blood cells attempt to produce antibodies against new viruses. A “healthy immune system” will increase protection from viruses, including the H1N1 virus – swine flu. Research proves herbal and nutritional supplements can dramatically increase protection from swine flu by increasing levels of natural killer cells, which destroy viruses, without attacking healthy body cells.

In a placebo-controlled, double-blind study, elderberry was shown to be effective for treating Influenza B. People using the elderberry extract recovered much faster than those only on a placebo. This is partially due to the fact that Elderberry inhibits neuraminidase, the enzyme used by the virus to spread infection to host cells. A small study published in 2004 showed that 93% of flu patients given Elderberry extract were completely symptom-free within two days; those taking a placebo recovered in about six days. Patients in the extract group had “pronounced improvements” in flu symptoms after three days: nearly 90% of patients had complete cure within two to three days. The extract group had no drowsiness, the downside of many flu treatments. The placebo group didn’t recover until at least day six; they also took more painkillers and nasal sprays.

Immune System Boosters for you and your children are required to increase your body’s immune system health. There are oodles of Elderberry products out there to choose from, but what you need to know is that the power is in the juice of the berry, not from eating the berry itself.

With our children in schools and daycares on a daily basis, it will not be an easy task to keep them healthy and away from germs. Needless to say we are constantly surrounded by others at our work place. You cannot go wrong by doing everything possible to boost your immune system to an optimal level to fight for your health. This is not a Seasonal Flu, The H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic is attacking the younger generation, pregnant women, and people with underlying conditions.

Stay healthy during the cold and flu season with these 5 Immune Booster Foods. Sardines, Papaya carrot juice, Miso Soup, Elderberry, Garlic. One of the best ways to avoid getting sick is to build a better immune system.

I made it through the Swine Flu with the Black Elderberry. I have no battle scars to show for it, and got through the worst of it in three days. Perfect Pasta in the Crock Pot

Perfect pasta can be made using your crock pot. With a few tips, you will get delicious pasta every time. There are many different ways to make pasta with crock pot recipes. It all depends on what recipe you are making.

Cooking Pasta as a Separate Step

In some recipes, it is recommended to cook your pasta completely before adding it to your recipe. Alternatively, your crock pot contents might be served on a bed of noodles. You may find this works well with stroganoff, roasted meats with sauces, and other similar recipes.

Other recipes may require that the pasta be partially cooked until it is just tender. The pasta is then added to the crock pot for the last half hour to cook with the rest of the ingredients. This approach works well with chicken Alfredo, casseroles, some soups and other dishes. The noodles will finish their cooking in the crock pot and soak up some of the flavors while they are at it.

Cooking your pasta separately is more work. Instead of just sitting down to your meal, you need to heat the water and spend the time cooking your pasta just right. This is one way to make sure you have perfect noodles every time. This will not work for every recipe, however.

Cooking Pasta in the Crock Pot

Some recipes are written for uncooked pasta. These recipes are less work for you in the long run, though you will still need to add the pasta towards the end in most recipes. You could use this technique if you were making Chicken noodle soup, minestrone or ramen. For normal pasta, you will want to add it into the crock pot between 30 to 60 minutes before serving. If you are making ramen, 10 to 15 minutes is sufficient to cook the noodles on the high setting.

Finally, there are some recipes that tell you to put the pasta in right at the start. Lasagna is one crock pot dish that must have the noodles put in immediately. Macaroni and cheese is another. If you make this dish, do not expect to leave it cooking all day, however. Most mac and cheese recipes for the crock pot are done in 90 minutes to 2 hours, tops. Stuffed pasta shells and baked ziti are other pasta dishes for the crock pot that must have the pasta added at the beginning. Watch the clock when making this type of dish so your noodles do not get overdone. It will be mushy and shapeless if it cooks too long.

As you can see, you can cook pasta in the crock pot. You just need to tailor your techniques to the recipe. Pasta is a bit delicate as a crock pot ingredient, so watch the pot until you know how a recipe will turn out. With some, it may take an attempt or two to get it just right.

With a little practice, you will be making wonderful pasta for your family with your handy crock pot. You will be enjoying comforting, hot pasta that tastes terrific and your family will love.

When you make a white chicken chili soup recipe, you can make it as spicy or as mild as you like. Just add more or less chili powder. You don’t need to add any ingredients you don’t like… just substitute them with ingredients you do like. This is a great way to make chicken soup.

Why Are Mexican Recipes and American Recipes So Different?

Everyone knows that Mexican food is different and that Mexican food recipes are definitely not the same as American recipes. Unlike Canada, which has a culinary tradition which is quite similar to our own, America’s neighbor to the south has a radically different way of cooking, with many recipes and ingredients which are unfamiliar to the American palate – but what is it that has caused such a divergence in the cuisines of the two neighboring nations?

Some Mexican Food History

There are two important reasons why Mexican food differs so greatly from the standard fare in the United States. One is historical. Unlike the United States, Mexico spent a much longer time as a Spanish colony than did the US. It is true that parts of the US were originally Spanish territories, though the Spanish colonial period lasted for a much briefer length of time here, with the influence of Spanish cuisine being pronounced mostly in regions, which were once Spanish territory, largely those bordering Mexico.

By contrast, what is now the United States was largely colonized by immigrants from Northern Europe, especially the English, Dutch and Germans, with French settlers in some areas and later on, immigrants from eastern Europe and Scandinavia – and to a lesser extent, literally every other part of the globe.

Colonists who came to Mexico from Europe came by and large from Spain and had a deep and lasting influence on what is now the nation of Mexico. Many classic Mexican recipes are either Spanish and are made much the same way as they are in Europe or are adaptations of Spanish dishes using local ingredients as substitutes for those, which were unavailable in the Americas.

Mexico has also seen a large number of immigrants arrive from the Levant (especially Syria and Lebanon), adding a few dishes which are now classic Mexican food recipes in their own right such as al pastor. This dish is essentially a Mexican take on the middle eastern shawarma.

While the US has had many immigrants from many different parts of the world, the diversity of the US population as compared to Mexico’s has meant that the cuisine of Mexico has remained more distinct than that of its northern neighbor. This by no means, means that Mexico is a place where foods from other countries is not enjoyed and adapted to local tastes either.

Different Ingredients

The other important factor in the difference between the cuisines of Mexico and the US is in the ingredients used. Just like in this country, Mexican cooks and Spanish colonists alike have always worked with the ingredients, which were widely available. In Mexico, of course that meant avocado, chili peppers, corn, pumpkins, pineapple, and other produce typical of the country’s warmer climate.

This blend of native ingredients and recipes with those brought over by the Spanish is what made Mexican food what it is today and many of the most famous Mexican food recipes clearly show this marriage of old world and new world cuisines. From tacos to soups to Mexican casserole recipes, this is one very successful – and very popular type of fusion cuisine.

Mexican cuisine is the second most vast and varied after Chinese cuisine, so if you thought it was all tacos and burritos, you might be pleasantly surprised by some of the delicious recipes at MexicanFoodRecipes.org. There is plenty to choose from, including warming soups and stews, salads and traditional Mexican fare along with information on the fascinating Mexican food customs.

These Easy Soup Recipes Could Make Your Meal!

Canned soup is cheap, easy, and tastes pretty good, so many of us turn to it when we have had a long day. Unfortunately, if you do not have much time to cook from scratch, you might find yourself falling into a rut. Fortunately, you do not have to deal with boring food. Improving a can of soup can be remarkably easy and still work well.

All you have to do is know what to add to any can of soup to take it from dull to delicious. Check out your leftovers – do you have any veggies in the fridge? Cut up fresh veggies and microwave or saute them, or toss in cooked veggies. You will be surprised by the difference they can make in a simple can of soup

Frozen veggies can work well, too. Take a commercial can of chowder and add some corn, carrots, peas, or green beans out of the freezer bag, then heat as usual. You will notice a real difference in the taste, and you do not have to put in very much more effort.

For those who would like to make their soups a little meatier, leftovers may be the answer. Save up the extra bits of chicken, beef, pork, or seafood from a previous meal, heat them up in the microwave, and add them right into your canned soup. You can use any kind of meat at all, as long as you use safe handling techniques.

For those who do not usually have much in the way of meaty leftovers, canned meats can come to the rescue. There are great canned chicken, shrimp, crab, and other meat options out there that can really help you add interest to your soups. It is amazing how easy soup recipes can be.

Leftover grains are a wonderful addition to soup meals, as well. Leftover rice, barley, or pilafs, a handful of extra noodles, and many other grains can add a bit of interest to a boring canned soup. Precooked grains can be added right to the soup when you heat it.

Spices and condiments can really change tastes, as well, and may make dull soups a lot more interesting. Garlic and onion, herbs, seasoning salt, hot pepper, or black pepper could be just what you need. Wine and sherry make things better, as do interesting vinegars. Try hot sauce, soy sauce, or even a little ranch (in a cream soup) and see what happens.

Cheese and other dairy products work well, too. Grate a little fresh cheese on top of a soup, or add it to cream soups when heating for a delicious cheesy option. How about a spoonful of sour cream? Add it after heating the soup to make your meal a little richer.

Easy chicken and vegetable soup can be made in the time you take to make any other normal meal. Chop up your vegetables and cook them over low heat until they are soft. Add in some small pieces of chicken and let them cook. Add your liquid and let it heat. Cook until all ingredients are done.

Choosing and Cooking Different Cuts of Steak

Do you have trouble telling your steaks apart? Many of us do, especially if we eat mostly steak prepared for us in restaurants. That can make it pretty tricky if you decide you would rather start preparing your own gourmet steak dinners. Here is a look at what kind of steaks you can buy and how they are best prepared, to help you in your steak cooking endeavors.

Rib Eye – This is one of the best all around cuts, since its high level of fat makes it hard to do badly, with the steak ending up juicy, tender, and flavorful in most cases. It is a good choice for novices, since its great pan fried, grilled, and broiled.

New York Strip – Also, this versatile and tender cut is relatively flavorful. It is best prepared by pan frying or grilling, not broiling. The fat can be trimmed, but do it only after cooking – the fat is what adds the flavor to this great steak.

Tenderloin – Steaks from the tenderloin are among the most expensive cuts available, but are lean and extremely tender, due to the limited use these muscles receive. The low fat of this steak causes many people to wrap it in bacon before cooking or sear it in butter. High in price, tenderloin is usually a choice for important occasions.

T-Bone – We have all heard of the t-bone, a combination tenderloin and New York Strip. Porterhouse steaks are a kind of large, tender t-bone steak that is cut further up the loin. They can be pretty tricky to cook, since the bone makes it hard to cook evenly throughout. This is not a steak for those who prefer their meat well done, and it does not sear or pan fry well. Try broiling or grilling a t-bone for best results.

Flank Steak – This long thin cup of meat is traditionally used for making London Broil. Many people like it during grilling season, as it is a good choice for large groups. This steak is more flavorful but tougher than the above steaks, and should be marinated, grilled or broiled whole, and sliced across the grain on the diagonal.

Skirt Steak – A lot like a flank steak, this is a piece of meat that can be cooked a number of different ways. Many choose a pan, but cooking steak on a grill works well here, too. Use this kind of steak in traditional fajitas and have a great Mexican or Tex-Mex themed cookout.

Top Sirloin – This is one of the most popular steaks for shoppers on a budget, and is more tender than a flank steak, but tougher than a New York Strip. Very lean meat such as this should be pounded, marinated, and used in Asian cooking or in kebabs.

Famous Italian dessert recipes always stand out in the history of desserts. They can be anywhere between slightly bitter and moderately sweet and most these dessert recipes go very well with a glass of wine or liqueur. The Italians are actually just as likely to enjoy a piece of fruit for dessert as a rich, creamy tiramisu or gelato.

You might have paid a visit to an Italian bakery and, if so, you will have seen a large range of biscotti and cookies. The Italians enjoy dipping their biscotti in red wine. Many Italian cookies are sweet but not extremely sweet and a lot of the flavoring comes from the light glaze on top, as well as the nuts or candied fruit in the cookies. Biscotti are well known in the United States but the Italians eat harder, slightly sweet twice baked cookies than biscotti. The cookies are baked twice to remove moisture and make them hard, dry, and crumbly.

Very Famous Italian Desserts

Tiramisu is thought to have originated in Siena. Duke Cosimo de Medici enjoyed it so much that it spread around the world with Italian immigrants. Tiramisu is a delicious combination of lady finger cookies, liquor, espresso, cocoa, mascarpone cheese, and eggs.

The best known Italian cake has to be panettone, which is from Milan. Boxes of this cake can be found in cafes and Italian bakeries during the holiday season all over the world. The fluffy panettone dough is flavored with raisins and candied fruit pieces and the cake is shaped like a dome. Italians enjoy panettone with zabaglione custard or mascarpone cheese and a glass of liqueur or dessert wine.

Perhaps you have tried Italian gelato. This is ice cream made with milk, sugar and flavoring. Sometimes it contains eggs and cream. Gelato is churned less than regular ice cream, making it less airy and denser. These desserts are best eaten in moderation because a lot of them are very rich. If you find a lot of Italian treats heavenly but a bit too rich, why not make your own and change the ingredients to tone them down a bit?

Jello and Italian Dessert Recipes

Jello and gelato go together very nicely, although this may not be a combination that might have crossed your mind before it is worth a try. If you combine jello powder, boiling water and jello, you can make a light dessert with a great flavor and texture. You can combine many different jello flavors and gelato flavors. Using sugar free jello means you can trim a lot of calories from the finished dessert too.

If you have an ice cream making machine, you can make gelato with kool aid and jello by making the kool aid as normal, adding half a pack of jello, and adding it all to the ice cream maker. Jello combines well with all kinds of ingredients. Fruit trifle is a good example.

Jello complements the flavors of chocolate, fruit, custard and much more. You can use it to make wonderful recipes like strawberry jello pretzel salad or to stretch Italian recipes further to feed a large family. Simple ideas such as poking holes in an Italian cake or sweet bread, pouring over jello and allowing it to set is a great dessert, which all the family will enjoy.

Ever since the invention of jello it has been close to our hearts. Jello is versatile and comes in many colors and flavors, making it an ideal ingredient in more complex recipes as well as delicious on its own or with fruit. Jello is one comfort food that seems to have been around forever.
