Can Genital Warts Be Cured? The Dreaded HPV Virus Strikes Again |
Venereal or genital warts are often times found on or around the penis or vagina area. Many will recognize them as being red or pink lumps around the genital area. This type of venereal wart can vary in both size and shape, some being quite tiny, to others being quite large. These types of warts have the habit of spreading rather quickly to other parts of the body, and to other individuals who’ve come into contact with the infected area. Many of these genital warts will appear in clusters of three or four, and have the ability of multiplying rather quickly. Some sufferers have experienced some form of slight itching, bleeding and/or mild pain.
Venereal warts are caused by the HPV virus or human papillomavirus. This type of virus is a sexually transmitted disease or STD and over half of middle aged America today, has some form of this virus. Genital warts or venereal warts, can and do in some cases go away on their own without any medical intervention. The HPV virus unfortunately does not, as there is no known cure, so you may find your genital warts returning. Many infected individuals will wait to see if their warts spread before embarking on a remedy to treat their genital warts.
As long as you have genital warts, you shouldn’t have sex. If you do, make sure you wear a condom. Genital warts can be very contagious. Some warts can also be transferred to another even while wearing a condom. Either way, you are still taking a high risk, but some prevention is better than having none at all.
There are certain types of the HPV virus that has been linked to the cause of cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, anal cancer and in some cases, cancer of the penis. For many women, a simple and yearly Pap Smear test can help detect any abnormal cervical cells. If you think you’ve become infected with genital warts, then it’s a good idea to consult your local doctor, who can offer genital wart treatment options immediately.
There are quite a few options available for getting rid of genital warts. Regardless of which method you choose, you should first make an appointment with your doctor. Ask your doctor to prescribe you with a topical medication which you can apply at home, especially if you feel uncomfortable about having a stranger perform it.
You will find that there are quite a few options available in eliminating genital or venereal warts. The first is Cryotherapy which will freeze the wart off. The second is Electrocautery which burns the warts off through electricity. A third option for genital warts removal is by laser surgery. This will actually burn the wart off via a high intensity laser. For those that are suffering from a severe form of genital warts, the last option may be through a surgical excision procedure. This would probably be the more painful of the procedures and could also leave the sufferer with some scarring, depending on where the genital warts are located.
